That begins with helping you understand what to expect from your first visit to Icon Orthodontics! Many patients are nervous about this first visit, but being prepared can help you feel more confident. Keep reading below to learn more about what your consultation will include!
Your complimentary consultation
Your orthodontic journey will begin with an evaluation by one of our experienced orthodontists. This is one of the most important appointments you’ll have with our team, so we do our best to make it an enjoyable one! We’ll get to know a bit about each other and discuss any concerns you have about your smile or oral health. After your examination is complete, we’ll be able to answer any questions you have about your diagnosis or the proposed treatment plan.
Icon Orthodontics has two locations for your convenience. Whether you choose our Surprise or Glendale office, you’ll receive a warm welcome and be introduced to some of our talented team members. We’ll also give you a brief tour of the office to help you feel more relaxed and comfortable with your surroundings!
From here, we’ll move on to collecting what we refer to as diagnostic records. This generally includes digital photographs of your teeth and overall bite. We may take some x-rays as well. These images give us a good look at your teeth, soft tissues, and the underlying bone. Seeing what’s happening beneath the surface of your smile gives our doctors a deeper understanding of your overall oral health. They’ll use this information to create a personalized treatment plan for your specific needs.
Your examination
After reviewing your medical and dental histories, you’ll be introduced to your Dr. Sarpotdar or Dr. Sun. They’ll listen to your concerns before performing a thorough oral examination. This is a painless inspection of your mouth that will help us identify any orthodontic issues that may need attention, either now or in the future.
At this point, we’ll let you know what our findings are and discuss our treatment recommendations. We never want you to feel like we’re rushing you through your appointments, especially this one! Expect to spend about an hour with us on your first visit, as this gives us time to perform the exam, discuss your diagnosis, and address any questions you may have about the treatment process. We’ll also cover other important topics like:
- any oral issues you are experiencing
- if treatment is recommended right away
- what treatment options are available to you
- an estimate of how long we expect your treatment to take
- the total investment required for your new smile
- any payment or financing options we offer

Your investment in a straighter smile
Here at Icon Orthodontics, we believe everyone should have access to high-quality orthodontic care and pride ourselves on offering safe, effective, and affordable options. Once you’ve decided on a plan with your doctor, we’ll look at the total investment needed for your new smile. Because every case is different and each patient responds to treatment in their own way, the total costs will always vary, but you never need to worry about hidden costs with us!
The financial side of orthodontic treatment can be confusing, but we simplify it as much as possible for our patients. Our team will also ensure you understand everything that’s included in your treatment plan before moving on to the active phase of your orthodontic journey. We offer a variety of customized options to suit any budget, including:
- Limited Treatment (minor movement of only the teeth of concern) starting under $3,000
- Early Orthodontics (space creation and bite correction for children who still have some baby teeth) starting around $3,000
- Comprehensive Treatment (correction of bite and full alignment of all teeth for adolescents and adults) starting in the $4,000’s
We also have several financial incentives available to patients, such as:
- No-interest financing available
- 5% Full-payment/cash upfront discount
- Multi-family member discount
- 5% Military, fire, police, and teacher discount
- Start Treatment for as low as $99 down, $99/month (some exclusions apply)
For your convenience, Dr. Sarpotdar and Dr. Sun offer an automatic draft from checking accounts or credit cards. We also accept all PPO insurance plans. Our team is happy to review your insurance coverage and file the necessary paperwork on your behalf.
The next step in your orthodontic journey
After your initial consultation, we’ll schedule your first appointment. This is typically when we’ll place your braces or fit your first aligner. We do everything we can to make this appointment a positive and stress-free experience for you, and you’ll have access to our team throughout it should you have any questions or concerns.
Whatever appliance you choose, follow-up visits are an important part of the process. You’ll be scheduled to see your orthodontist every 6-10 weeks or so, and we’ll use this time to ensure things are progressing as they should be. Your doctor may adjust your appliance at this time as well, or change out the wires if you’re wearing braces.
We’ll try our best to schedule these appointments for a day and time that’s convenient for you, but we know that life can sometimes get in the way of even the best-laid plans! If you’re running late or can’t make your appointment for any reason, let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule it for you. This will keep your treatment on track and help you achieve the results you’re looking for.
